Five injured in factory fire
Barrackpore, Oct 21 (UNI) At least five workers of a Khardah-based factory Calcutta Electro Steel Limited were seriously injured when fire broke out during repair work of a conveyor belt last night.
A senior factory official said here today that the fire was soon extinguished while the injured workers were immediately sent to two ESI hospitals at Kamarhati and Manicktala while one of them was shifted to a private hospital at Howrah.
Anil Kujur (28) was admitted to Howrah Hospital while Sovan Dhar, Raghunath Mondal, Sukhram Hesa and Batakrishna Shaw were admitted to ESI Hospital.
The factory authorities, meanwhile, instituted an official inquiry into the mishap, factory spokesman J Banerjee claimed.
However, the factory authorities did not call the state Fire Brigade in this connection, the Divisional Officer of the West Bengal Fire Service here said.
