Dowry harassment after wedding under govt scheme

Dewas, MP, Oct 21 (UNI) A woman, who was married five months ago under the Madhya Pradesh government's Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, lodged a dowry harassment complaint here today against her husband and parents-in-law, police said.

Ms Aruna alleged that her husband Ravi and his parents taunted her for dowry since the wedding and later began physically tormenting her.

The Yojana's objective is marriage of poor women who are given some household goods and a certain amount when they tie the knot at a ceremony whose expenses are borne by the government.
