TN Govt allots maximum fund for education: Minister
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 20 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government allotted a maximum of Rs 9118 crore as fund this year for education and it proved beyond doubt the positive step taken by the Government for the development of education, State School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu said today.
Addressing the school reforms conference here today, the Minister said similar conferences had taken place during the earlier four-time tenure of Mr Karunanidhi.
Mr Thennarasu said with the financial assistance from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), every year, Rs 400 crore worth facilities were provided for the development of schools, including construction of additional school buildings.
Speaking on the occasion, State Forest Minister N Selvaraj said Mr Karunanidhi, keeping in mind the development of education in the State, had separated the education portfolio as 'Higher Education' and 'School Education' by appointing separate ministers to streamline the process.
State Transport Minister K N Nehru in his address lauded the sevices of the teachers for moulding the students as good citizens.
The Director of School Education Perumalsamy, said there was an overwhelming response for the adoption of rural area schools in the State.
