RS adjourned after obituary reference to Laxminarayan Sharma
New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha was today adjourned for the day after obituary reference to sitting member Laxminarayan Sharma who died on October 17 following a heart attack.
''As a mark of respect to the departed, the House stands adjourned till 1100 hours tomorrow,''Chairman Hamid Mohammad Ansari said after the obituary reference to Mr Sharma, the Bharatiya Janata Party MP who represented the state of Madhya Pradesh in the House from June. 2004 till death on Friday at the age of 75.
''In Mr Sharma's death, the country has lost a veteran Parliamentarian, an administrator and a noted social worker,''the obituary reference said.
Born in the Karondia district in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, Mr Sharma started his legislative career as member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1967 and was a member of that assembly continuously for 35 years.
He also served as Minister of Cooperatives, Revenue and Agriculture in the Madhya Pradesh Government.
