Chandigarh, Oct 20 (UNI) As part of the Guruta Gaddi Diwas celebrations, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Union Territory Administrator, General(Retd.) S F Rodrigues, inaugurated a mega medical camp and flagged off a fully equipped mobile clinic bus here today.
The bus has been launched by Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Society, Chandigarh.
The Administrator went round different wards and took stock of the facilities being provided in the clinic which would provide free of cost treatment to poor patients and on a "no profit no loss" basis to others.
Addressing the gathering, General Rodrigues said the 300th year of Guruta Gaddi Divas is the ideal occasion to renew our resolve to follow the philosophy of Dharma (righteousness) as professed by Sri Guru Gobind Singh.
He strongly advocated the need for creating an environment of caring and compassion with the focus on values based on ethos of our 5000 year civilization and preached and practised by gurus and saints.
General Rodrigues said that Chandigarh was developing as a place of world-class efficient healthcare network for providing comprehensive medical services to the people of the whole region.
"We are in the process of synchronizing healthcare services by pooling existing resources and integrating medical network available in PGIMER, General Hospital and Government Medical College for ensuring access to quality healthcare in the region", he said.
General Rodrigues asked the Home Secretary to set up a team comprising officers and management of Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Society to coordinate in the endeavour to boost the medical services in the region and to reach out the people who could not come to hospitals for treatment.
