Robbery gang held, weapons seized in Kancheepuram

Kancheepuram, Oct 20: Police arrested three persons for attempting to indulge in robbery and seized weapons and the car used by them, near Melmaruvathur on the Chennai-Tiruchirapalli Highway.

Police said following a tip off they surrounded a car in which the gang lay in wait for victims and seized long knives and wooden logs to be used in the crime. A search was on for two gang members who escaped the dragnet.

A local court this morning remanded Karthik alias Ramesh (20), Siva (25) and Mani (22) into judicial custody. They were taken to the Puzhal Prison in Chennai.
