Nitish demands special package for reconstruction
Patna, Oct 20 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today demanded the Centre to grant special package for reconstruction and rehabilitation works in flood-hit Kosi region.
Mr Kumar told mediapersons here that reconstructions and rehabilitation works on such a largescale in north Bihar would not be possible without special package from the Centre.
'' Earlier, I had demanded fund from the Centre during my meeting with the Prime Minister on the basis of rough calculation of the damages in flood-hit areas of north Bihar,'' Mr Kumar said and added that he would meet the Prime Minister soon for special package with detailed report of damages.
Mr Kumar said the state government would demand Rs 1.5 lakh for reconstruction of every damaged house in flood-affected areas as Rs one lakh was given to Tsunami hit areas by the Centre for reconstruction of each damaged house and the construction cost had increased manifold since then.
The Chief Minister said the Centre should send several teams for assessing the damages in different sectors, including agriculture, infrastructures and other areas to accelerate the process of preparation of comprehensive report in this connection.
'' The state government would reconstruct damaged school and hospital buildings itself while the willing corporate sectors are free to extend their help in rebuilding of other damaged structures in villages,'' he added.
