Amendment in GO, 'incorrect

Hyderabad, Oct 20: Reacting to the Andhra Pradesh's Government's plan to amend GO 111, Forum for a Better Hyderabad, an NGO, on Monday, Oct 20 said it would be 'incorrect and improper' to introduce any amendment to the GO as the matter was pending in the court.

In a statement, Forum President M Vedakumar said, ''A petition filed by Forum for a Better Hyderabad and other petitions have already been heard and are pending with the Honourable AP High Court.

''Accordingly, it will be incorrect or and improper to introduce any amendment in the GO 111 as the matter is pending with the court.'' GO 111 restricts any construction within ten km radius of the Himayatsagar and Osmansagar Lakes to protect the prime drinking water sources of the city.

The State Government was planning to make changes in the GO replacing it with an ordinance to allow farmhouses to come upstream.
