GJM's number-plate replacement drive meets complaints

Darjeeling, Oct 20 (UNI) The police has received a few complaints against the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha(GJM's) drive to impose replacement of ''West Bengal(WB)'' with ''Gorkhaland (GL)'' on the vehicles' number plates in the Siliguri sub-divisional area under Darjeeling district.

SP (Darjeeling) Rahul Srivastava today said complaints, lodged by government officials and auto-rickshaw owners, were also registered at Matigara and Pradhannagar police stations last night.

While no arrests had been made, altogether 16 specific cases had been registered in the district, Mr Srivastava said.

According to him, vehicles plying in Sukhna and Sevoke, came across counters manned by Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) activists.

The supporters were active in replacing ''WB'' on the number-plates with ''GL'', he added.
