FB leader Naren Chatterjee attacked
Kolkata, Oct 20 (UNI) Unidentified assailants today attacked senior Forward Bloc leader and Agriculture Marketing Board chairman Naren Chatterjee at Tarakeswar in Hooghly district.
Police here said Mr Chatterjee was en route to the city from his residence at Baidyabati when some miscreants in a Tata Sumo blocked his car near Tarakeswar rail crossing and then threatened him with a revolver.
However, the driver of Mr Chatterjee managed to veer the car away and took him to the Sheoraphuli police station, where Mr Chatterjee lodged a complaint.
Later, Mr Chatterjee was admitted to a nursing home as he began feeling unwell.
Forward Bloc state secretary Ashok Ghosh and Agriculture Minister Naren Dey condemned the attack on Mr Chatterjee and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
Meanwhile, seven people had been apprehended in this connection.
