Curfew relaxed for 12 hours in MP town
Burhanpur, MP, Oct 20 (UNI) Curfew was today relaxed in this communal violence-affected town for twelve hours from 0600 hours to 1800 hours.
District Collector Kerolin Khegwar Deshmukh said banks, markets and educational institutes remained opened during the relaxation period. The situation was fast returning to normalcy.
However, night curfew would continue to remain in force.
The district administration had imposed curfew in the area on October 10 in the wake of communal violence in which 9 people were killed, 27 injured and more than 500 arrested.
Meanwhile, banana growers have suffered huge loss due to the curfew, as cutting of crop produce could not take place in time.
