Corporation seizes 718 kg mawa

Mumbai, Oct 20 (UNI) Sanitary department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) today raided a godown storing 'Mawa' for making sweets at MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) at Andheri in western suburb.

Sanitary Inspector A B Thakur said that a team of the department at around 0900 hours today raided the godown of Sood Enterprizes at MIDC, Andheri.

Police seized 718 kg of Mawa, including 502 kg of Chemical, which is used in making mawa. The commodity was affected by fungus.

Samples of mawa were sent for chemical analysis and after getting the report, the police will take action against both the parties under Adulteration Act, he added.

However, mawa was destroyed by the corporation officials after making panchnama.
