President condoled Mawlong's death

Shillong, Oct 19 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Governor RS Mooshahary and union Tribal Affairs minister PR Kyndiah have condoled the death of veteran UDP leader and former Meghalaya Chief Minister Evansius Kek Mawlong.

In a message, President Ms Patil conveyed her condolences to the bereaved family.

Governor, Mr Mooshahary said the state had suffered a ''grievous and irreparable loss'' in the death of Mawlong.

'' The late leader was a political stalwart who made manifold contributions to the progress of the State,'' the Governor said.

Union minister Mr Kyndiah also expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the UDP leader.

Mr Kyndiah, in his message, said, ''Late Mawlong's contribution to the state was immense. His untimely demise has left a vacuum in the state politics.'' UNI RRK RH RD 1312
