Pondy Assembly session begins tomorrow

Puducherry, Oct 19 (UNI) In the backdrop of the unrest among the government employees in connection with the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission recommednations, pending wages to daily rated and part-time employees and the administration reeling under financial crisis, the winter session of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly begin here tomorrow.

Though the AIADMK and Left parties had urged the administration to conduct the session for ten days to discuss issues pertaining to welfare of the people and handing over of the Puducherry Government Medical College to the ESI corporation, granting NOC for the setting up of another medical college in the private sector.

However, the session would be for only oneday, according to official sources here today.

The Session is likely to adjourn sine-die after introducing the Bill for the implementation of the ''Goondas Act'' in the Union Territory.

However, the Bill would be passed after a debAte in the Budget Session in March next year, the sources added.

The Session is likely to witness some uproArious scenes as the AIADMK, PMC and CPI members would be raking up several issues.
