Massive development projects under execution in J and K

Srinagar, Oct 19 (UNI) Advisor to Governor C Phunsog today asked the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) to ensure major projects, being executed by it, were completed within the stipulated time frame.

He called for expedite the efforts to speed up the execution work.

Mr Phunsog was chairing a high-level meeting of officers here, convened to review the physical and financial achievements registered by ERA in execution of various development projects.

It was given out that 28 road projects involving Rs 551.33 crore, 21 bridges costing Rs 51.51 crore, upgradation of urban water supply projects at Jammu and Srinagar at a cost of Rs 155.55 crore and Rs 167.04 crore of 96 km-long drainage projects in urban areas under the Asian Development Bank Funding are under progress in the state.

The meeting was informed that the construction work of 19 road projects at a cost of Rs 364.81 crore, 18 bridges involving Rs 44.45 crore, 4 urban water supply schemes costing Rs 87.23 crore and 57 km-long drains costing Rs 101.72 crore were taken up by ERA in Kashmir division.

In Jammu division, 9 road projects involving Rs 181.24 crore, 3 bridges costing Rs 7.06 crore, 39 km-long four drains costing Rs 65.32 crore and Rs 68.32 crore upgradation of urban water supply projects had also been taken up for the execution.

The Advisor directed the engineers to speed up their efforts and remove all bottlenecks in order to carry forward the progress of work smoothly.

He instructed that land disputes, if any, should also be solved in coordination with the Revenue authorities.

He also directed that shifting of telephone cable wires should be taken up with BSNL and rehabilitations of affected be finalised well in time.

Mr Phunsog underscored the need for joint visits of engineers and officers to take on spot decisions of removing bottlenecks, if any, in the execution of the projects.
