KVMK appeals TN CM to set right power supply

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 19 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Kaivinaignar Munnetra Kazhagam (KVMK) General Secretary Visu Sivakumar today urged the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to take steps on a war footing to set right the power supply in the state.

Addressing a press conference here today, he said the present erratic power supply had severely affected 63 categories of manufacturing units and renderd thousands of workers jobless.

Mr Sivakumar wanted that 'Viswakaramas' be included in the most backward class list, ten per cent exclusive reservation to them in job, education and alloting seats in Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly.

He urged the Central and State Governments to immediately ban the online trading as it was affecting the small and medium traders specially the goldsmith.

Thanking the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram for making arrangements for regular supply of gold to the goldsmiths in his Sivaganga Lok Sabha Constituency and protcting them from the sufferings of the online trade, he urged Mr Chidambaram to extend this facility and bank loan to all the goldsmiths in the state.

He urged the Union Government to withdraw its recent order (GO) on removing various goods like kitchen masalas from the purview of the Tiny and smallscale industries.

KVMK founder K P Subbaiyan said the party would launch a state-wide stir on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.

KVMK Tiruchirapalli district unit President, Mr E Krishnan said the first regional conference of the KVMK would be held here on November nine.
