Kumaraswamy not bothered of defamation case
Bangalore, Oct 19 (UNI) Janata Dal(Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy today said he was not perturbed over the BJP government in Karnataka filing a defamation case against him for levelling bribery charges against Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.
The state government yesterday appointed a Special Public Prosecutor to handle the case against the former Chief Minister, who had alleged that Mr Yeddyurappa had received 'kick backs while sanctioning a housing complex for economically weaker section in the city.
The project at Ejipura in the city, taken up under PPP scheme, allowed the private builder to use a portion of the property for commercial purposes.
''I had only highlighted the wrong decisions taken by the state government and it was in the public interest. The state government will not be able to stifle me,'' he said, speaking at a function here.
Accusing Mr Yeddyurappa of practicing politics of vengeance, Mr Kaumaraswamy said this would not stop him from informing the people about the failures of the BJP government.
''If this government announces programmes that benefits common people I will welcome it. But I have hardly seen any such programmes being taken up by this government,'' he said.
