Srinagar, Oct 19 (UNI) The State Implementing Agency (SIA) for the execution of National Project on Cattle and Buffalo Breeding (NPCB) approved the Rs 4.99 crore action plan for 2008-09 under its phase II in Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said the SIA, which has been setup to implement Rs 13 crore Cattle and Buffalo development programme in a span of five years in the state had two independent livestock development boards, one each for Kashmir and Jammu divisions under its control.
The programme aims at accelerating the livestock development by way of strengthening the infrastructure and human resource development.
At the end of its five-year term, the milk production in the state is expected to reach approximately 21-lakh MTs from current 14 MTs.
The SIA also approved expenditures of Rs 37 lakh out of the unspent balance by the Kashmir and Jammu Livestock Development Boards under phase I of the project during the preceding year.
It has also accorded the approvals for setting up of Liquid Nitrogen Silos of 3000 litre capacity each in Srinagar and Jammu, Cyro transport vans, Bio freezers for sperm station Rambirbagh, Semen transfer devices, Vivo stats, AI kits and Computerisation of CEOs offices.
