Curfew continues in Bhainsa town in AP
Adilabad, Oct 19: Seventy people were arrested in different cases related to the recent communal clashes which erupted in the curfew-bound Bhainsa town during the immersion procession of Goddess Durga idols on October 10.
The people were arrested from Bhainsa and its surrounding areas. Inspector General of Police (Warangal Range) J Purnachandra Rao said involvement of some others in the cases was being examined. However, the situation was totally under control, he added.
A decision on lifting the curfew would be taken in the next few days, the IGP said.
Meanwhile, the curfew, which was clamped in Bhainsa town for the last 10 days, was lifted for a few hours to enable the people to purchase essential commodities.
The curfew was relaxed for two hours from 1030 hrs to 1230 hrs, he said, adding a decision would be taken to relax it for another two hours in the evening depending on the situation.
However, there were no fresh clashes during the relaxation period, the IGP said.
Two units of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), besides the local police, were deputed in the area, he added.
