Congress' mahapanchayat on Oct 21 in UP
Lucknow, Oct 19 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress will hold a 'mahapanchayat' here on October 21 to highlight the plantation scam in Bundelkhand region by the present Mayawati government.
The Congress had already lodged an FIR in the state capital in connection with the scam, in which they claimed that funds meant for National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) were misused in the name of fake plantation drive in Bundelkhand during the monsoon.
The party has claimed that Rs 400 crore had been manipulated in the scam in the plantation drive in seven districts of the Bundelkhand region.
NREGS, Congress monitoring cell chairman Sanjay Dikshit said here today that the mahapanchayat had been called to disclose other scams also that took place under the rule of present regime.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and in-charge of UP Digvijay Singh, AICC secretary Praveen Rashtrapal, Congress state unit president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Congress legislature party leader Pramod Tiwari and former state president Jagdambika Pal along with other leaders would participate in the mahapanchayat.
Mr Dikshit said the party would launch agitation at the divisional level against the scams and the dates would be announced in the mahapanchayat.
