YSR asks department for plan on burial/cremation grounds

Hyderabad, Oct 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed the Revenue department to prepare a comprehensive action plan for setting up burial or cremation grounds for all sections of the people in all areas of the state.

After addressing a meeting on burial grounds for various sections of the people with ministers and officials in the Secretariat, he said with the increase in population, there was an urgent need for more burial and cremation grounds at various places in the state.

He asked the Revenue department to conduct a Rapid Action and Feedback Survey (RAFS) to find out the requirement for the burial grounds. The village-wise survey to find out the required grounds should be completed within two months.

He also asked the department to instruct the District Collectors to identify the lands as per the need.

If government land was not available, the land should be acquired by the Collectors, he added.

All new burial and cremation grounds should be in place within three months, Dr Reddy said adding the Commissioner of Municipalities and local bodies would be in charge the grounds.
