Youth held for attempting rape in train

Pathalgaon, Chhattisgarh, Oct 18 (UNI) A youth was held for allegedly attempting to assault a college girl in an AC coach of the Mumbai-Howrah Geetanjali Express early today near Raigarh station, Government Railway Police (GRP) said.

Neeraj Singh Thakur, resident of West Bengal's Hoogali town, attempted to sexually assault the young woman travelling in his compartment. The accused had boarded the train in Nagpur for going to Howrah.

The victim asked co-passengers for help who pulled the chain near Raigarh station due to non-cooperative behaviour of the railway police force and Ticket Examiner.

Later, passengers thrashed the accused and handed him over to the GRP. Agitated passengers shouted slogans against lack of security in the train.
