Seven members of inter-state gang held in Pune
Pune, Oct 18 (UNI) Seven members of an inter-state gang were today arrested by the rural police from Bhandgaon village near Yawat and gold ornaments worth more than Rs 90 lakh seized.
Superintendent of Police Ravindra Kadam said the gang had unlashed a reign of terror in various parts of states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Delhi.
He said acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the village where the gang members had gone to sell their stolen goods. They had robbed a leading jewellery shop at Kota in Rajasthan and decamped with the booty worth Rs 40 lakh after injuring the owner of the shop.
The arrested gang members have confessed to their involvement in various cases including dacoity, attempts to murder and other serious crimes.
Of the seven, six accused were identified as Kabir Khan, Abdul Sehjadh, Sabbir Khan, Sakil Ahmed, Munna Ahmed and Suresh Balla, while the identity of the seventh accused is yet to be ascertained.
Most of the arrested members are from Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh) and Rajasthan, he added.
