Poll team to enforce code at block level
Bhopal, Oct 18 (UNI) The Election Commission has decided to deploy a three-member enforcement team at block level for strict enforcement of model code of conduct to ensure free and fair elections for the Assembly in Madhya Pradesh and four other states.
The model code of conduct enforcement squad will comprise officials other than revenue and police personnel, Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer J S Mathur told UNI here today.
Mr Mathur said generally officials from police and the revenue department played an important role in enforcing the model code of conduct but for the first time the officials from other department also be deployed for a smooth conduct of polls.
He said vehicles and other facilities would be provided to the enforcement squad so that it could inform senior officials regarding poll code compliance within time.
Members of the enforcement squad would be appointed by the district electoral officer, he added.
