Kerala: ILC seeks dismissal of LDF Govt
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 18: The Indian Lawyers Congress (ILC) today urged Kerala Governor R S Gavai to take steps to dismiss the Kerala Government, headed by Chief Minister V S Achuthandanan, in the wake of the agitation against the Union Government yesterday.
In a petition, ILC State Secretary P Rahim asked the Governor to oust the government as there was no provision in the Constitution for Ministers organising such agitations.
Stating the Council of Ministers was not expected to go on strike or hold any agitation of whatever manner or nature, he said ''it is a clear violation of the Constitutional provision.
''Virtually, factually and legally, the agitation by way of Parliament march and subsequent sit-in are against the Constitutional provisions,'' he pointed out in the petition.
Since the Kerala Ministry had acted against Article 257 of the Constitution, it should be disqualified as it had ''violated the oath of office.''
