CBI arrests excise and service tax officer for bribe

Port Blair, Oct 18 (UNI) A team of Central Bureau of Investigation arrested Mira Maitra, an inspector ranked officer of Central Excise and Service Tax department for accepting bribe yesterday.

She was arrested under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Police said, she was produced in the court today.

Acting on a tip off, a team of CBI laid the trap and arrested her while accepting Rs 5000 as bribe.

According to official sources, a complaint was lodged to CBI by a private security agency here, against her for harassing them for bribe.
