BJP says political parties trying to cash in on Jamia encounter
New Delhi, Oct 18 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Ravi Shanker Prasad on Saturday said that some political parties are using the Jamia Nagar encounter to gain political mileage.
Prasad said, "Some parties in the country are using Batla House encounter as an ATM card to debit political mileage out of their vote bank. The sufferers are again the common man because in the process they are causing irreparable damage to the morale of our security force which affects the safety of the Nation."
The statement comes a day after Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh visited Jamia Nagar with Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Bannerjee and demanded a judicial probe into the encounter.
Prasad claimed that the encounter has a major significance in the nation's fight against terror. "The encounter has a special importance in the country's fight against terror as it was the first major operation carried out with the coordinated efforts by police of six states," he added.
He also alleged that the ruling Congress was behind the "statements of doubt" and Amar Singh was only a face in the campaign against the security forces.
