3 of family killed as thunder strikes
Kancheepuram, Oct 18 (UNI) The North East Monsoon now active in Tamil Nadu claimed its first victim this morning when three of a family were killed as they were struck by thunder at Oothukadu village here.
Police said several men and women were working on the field when heavy downpour accompanied by thunder and lightning occurred.
Seven people got seriously injured when thunder struck them.
They were rushed to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital where Murugan (40), his wife Padmavathi (35) and daughter Nirmala (18) died.
