VCK to organise 'rail roko' on Lankan Tamils' issue
Chennai, Oct 17 (UNI) The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) today announced that it would organise a rail roko agitation in Tamil Nadu on October 23, on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.
Party President Thol Thirumavalavan, in a statement here, said the rail roko agitation was in support of resolutions, adopted at the all-party meeting, urging the Centre to prevail upon Sri Lanka to declare ceasefire and stop genocide against the Tamils. Partymen would block trains from all directions in the state, Mr Thirumavalavan said and appealed to the people of the state to express their solidarity with the suffering Lankan Tamils, by taking part in the agitation.
The VCK had pledged support to the rally being taken out by the Tamil film industry tomorrow at Rameswaram to stop the attacks on Tamils in Sri Lanka and firing on Indian fishermen by the Lankan navy, he said.
The party would also take part in the human chain rally, organised by the ruling DMK, here on October 21, he said.
