Two-day job fair in Bangalore from Oct 18
Bengaluru, Oct 17: The Labour Department will organise a job fair for candidates of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) at the Indoor Stadium at Koramangala here on Saturday, Oct 18 and Sunday, Oct 19.
Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Minister for Labour Bachche Gowda said about 20,000 candidates were expected to participate in the fair. There are 895 ITIs in the State.
The job fair would be organised in Hubli and Shimoga in November and in Gulbarga in December. Companies such as ITC, Toyota Motors, Larsen and Turbo, Ace Designer, Maruti, Pentalone and Reliance Industries are participating in the fair planned in the city.
Nearly 40,000 students passed out from these institutes every year in the State, he said.
The Government had set up the Skill Mission to provide training to young graduates and technical students. The aim of the mission was to create 10 lakh jobs in the next five years. It was also decided to sign a memorandum of understanding with Hinduja Apparel Exports Limited for providing training to 5,000 candidates in 10 government institutes every year.
Under the Modular Employment Scheme of the Centre, the State had utilised Rs. 3 crore last year, he added.
