TN: Job fairs for Art students in Madurai
Madurai, Oct 17: Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai and Tiruch will have job fairs for Government Art college students. These four centres have been identified by the Department of Collegiate Education to conduct the fairs, says Secretary for Higher Education K Ganesan.
Ganesan said the placement cell of the Directorate of Collegiate Education was taking steps to usher in a 'job fair culture" in government arts and science colleges. He said the Higher Education Department was planning to bring polytechnic and arts colleges together to enhance job prospects for graduates.
“It will be a sort of value-addition for undergraduate students. A student of an arts college should be able to pursue a certificate course in a polytechnic college if this arrangement works out," said the Ganesan. The plan is to attach government colleges with the nearest polytechnic institutes. Aided colleges could try out the model later.
