'Salem tech institute an asset for Space prog'
Salem, Oct 17: Technical institutions are important for space programme, said Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) Deputy Director (Avionics) TR Chidambaram who was in the city for receiving Quadruplex BLDC Torque Motor.
The motor was developed for rocket engine gimbal control mechanism by the Sona Special Power Electronics and Electric Drives, a Research and Development Centre of Sona College of Technology, for VSSC. Another Slotless BLDC motor (flight model), developed by the centre, was handed over to ISRO Inertial Systems Unit for its Megha-Tropiques project.
Chidambaram said the country was trying to develop all technologies required for the space programmes indigenously.
