Not Goondas Act, introduce POTA: BJP

Puducherry, Oct 17 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Bharathiya Janata Party today demanded that POTA should be introduced in Puducherry instead of 'Goondas Act".

In a statement here, BJP State President M Visweswaran said the party was not opposed to 'Goondas Act'. However, the Vaithilingam government was making efforts to introduce the Act only to wreak political vengeance on the opposition. Hence, the plan to bring in the prposed Act be suspended for the time being.

He said steps should be taken in the winter session of the Puducherry assembly here from October 20, to introduce POTA.
