Militant killed in encounter in north Kashmir
Srinagar, Oct 17 (UNI) A militant was killed in a fierce encounter in the frontier district of Kupwara woods in north Kashmir, official sources said today.
They said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and 47 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint operation today in the woods at Shumriyal in Sogam area of north Kashmir district of Kupwara following a tip-off about the presence of militants.
During the operation which was still on, an encounter took place in which so far one militant was killed.
The operation was on when the reports last came in, they said.
