Man arrested with gold, silver ornaments, cash worth Rs 7.5 lakh

Sangli, Maharashtra, Oct 17 (UNI) The city police today arrested a man with robbed gold and silver jewellary and cash, totally worth Rs 7.5 lakh.

The man was identified as Suresh Mahadev Mali from Atapadi tehsil of the district, police said.

He was remanded to five days of police custody, when produced before a local court, police said.

Mali was working in a ornament shop in Kolkata of one Ranjit Dharmadas Kadam, also hailing from Atatpadi tehsil. Ranjit, accompanied by Mali, returned to Atapadi with some ornaments on October 13. On the same night, Mali broke into Ranjit's house and made away with gold and silver jewellary and Rs 5.31 lakh cash, police said.

Last night police found Mali moving suspiciously in timber area of the city and on checking his bag they recovered the cash and ornaments, police said.
