Jaitely flays centre, UP govt for higher taxes
Kanpur, Oct 17 (UNI) BJP general secretary and UP in charge Arun Jaitely today lambasted the central and state government for marring the development of industrial and trade sectors through imposition of high rate taxes.
The hike in trade tax by the Centre and the levy of Value Added Tax (VAT) by the state government have not only hit the development but also created situation of financial crunch in UP and in the country, Mr Jaitely said while addressing traders in this industrial city.
''It is the major reason why no more industrial units are being set-up in the state,'' the BJP leader charged.
Even the trade sector was on the verge of a closure, he claimed.
Mr Jaitely denounced Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Finance minister P Chidambaram for doing very little for the comman-man and adding to their woes by imposing high rate taxes.
