DVP, Lokvikas hold demonstrations

Nashik, Oct 17 (UNI) Activists of the Dalit Vikas Parishad and Lokvikas, a social organisation, today held demonstrations in front of the district collector's office here.

The demonstrations were led by Sunita Pagare, a social worker and activist of Lokvikas. A memorandum of demands was handed over to the district collector on the occasion.

Increase in the income limit (from Rs 1.5 lakh to 2.5 lakh) as eligibility for scholarship to scheduled caste/scheduled tribe families to get benefit of various government schemes for poor; 400 sq ft house for Dalits in cities and 50 per cent subsidy and 50 per cent loan for it, two Guntha land for houses in rural areas and Rs one lakh grant for it and 10 Guntha land allotment for Dalit crematorium in every village of Maharashtra, were some of the main demands of the agitating activists.
