Drunken constable arrested for beating businessman, damaging eye
New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) A Delhi Police constable, posted at Model Town police station, has been arrested for allegedly attacking a businessman, in a drunken stupor and damaging his eye, in Samaypur Badli area of Outer Delhi.
While Constable Neeraj was arrested by onlookers at the Samaypur Badli railway crossing late last night where the incident took place, his collegue fled the scene, according to sources.
Eyewitnesses said businessman Sanjay was waiting in his car at the crossing when Constable Neeraj, along with his friend, came there on a motorcycle and entered into a argument and before he could react, attacked the businessman in a brutal way with an object.
He was hit in the eye badly leaving it damaged.
Later, people rushed to catch hold of the attackers while they were trying to flee. Even as Neeraj, who was drunk, was arrested his associate fled.
Police said a case has been registered and investigations were on.
