8.33 pc bonus for NTC mill workers

Coimbatore, Oct 17: Trade Unions and National Textile Corporation (NTC) management reached an agreement on Thursday, Oct 16 announcing 8.33 pc bonus for eligible NTC mill workers and employees. All permanent and badili workers will get an advance of Rs 3,500 each. This will be deducted from their salaries from Dec. The bonus and festival advance will be disbursed before Wednesday, Oct 22. Secretary of the Joint Action Council of Coimbatore and Erode District Textile Mill Workers" Unions, K G Jaganathan, said settlements were reached in a handful of mills in the two districts and talks were on in the other units.

The main point of discussion was on whether the units could pay more than what they had last year, he said.

Jaganathan was hopeful that the bonus disbursements would be completed before Friday, Oct 24.
