19 kg saffron seized and one held

Kozhikode, Oct 17: A passenger from Muscat was arrested for carrying 19 kg of saffron worth Rs 19 Lakh by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at Karippur International Airport here on Friday, Oct 17.

DRI sources said the passenger was identified as Musthafa, (24), a native of Kumbala in Kasargod district, who arrived by an Oman Airways flight from Muscat. He was nabbed for carrying the contraband.

He would be produced before a magistrate court later, the sources said.
