Teakwood, Blackwood worth Rs 8.5 lakh seized

Nashik, Oct 16 (UNI) Forest Department officials have confiscated a truck with illegal Teakwood and Blackwood worth Rs 8.5 lakh in Surgana taluka of the district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Forest officials intercepted the truck near Banpada village yesterday and seized 153 logs. However, the accused managed to escape,source said.

The truck was carrying the wood from Umbarthan village in the taluka, source added.
