Pondy: Teachers to picket Assembly on Oct 20

Puducherrry, Oct 16: Government school teachers affiliated to the Federation of Puducherry Government Employees Associations would picket the Legislative Assembly on October 20,the opening day of the Winter Session, to press implementation of the VI Pay Commission recommendations.

Addressing the press here today, Federation President Seshachalam said it was not proper for the Territorial Administration to constitute a one-man Commission into the issue even after the Union Government accepted the recommendations of the Pay Commission and published it in the gazette.

It was also published in the Puducherry Government gazette,he added.

Mr Seshachalam said the agitation would also press the filling up of about 500 vacant posts in the Education Department and allowance to teachers working in rural areas among other things.
