Bangalore, Oct 16(UNI) The Karnataka government will set up a 'Skill Development Corporation' (SDC) to impart job oriented training for unemployed youths, Karnataka Labour Minister B N Bachegowda announced today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the SDC would be authorised to conduct job fairs in all four revenue divisions of the state and register unemployed seeking employment.
He said SDC would also be empowered to have a tie-up with various Corporate offices and industries to link unemployed youths with training and placement.
He said the state labour department has sought Rs 100 crore for the purpose and announced that the first of the job fairs would be held from October 18 in Bangalore.
The state government, has also sought financial support from the Centre for the SDC he said.
Replying to questions the minister said Hinduja group's Apparel Export Company has came forward to provide training to over 5000 candidates in the ten state run Industrial Training Institute (ITI), free of cost. Several Real Estate and Land Development companies have also come forward to impart training for unskilled Construction labourers in the state, he said.
