Scheme for stagnating cops in Pondy
Puducherry, Oct 16: In a bid to help police personnel stagnating in the same cadre for several years,the administration here has decided to provide them with Assured Career Progression (ACP) Scheme, Home Minister E Valsaraj said here today.
Addressing the press, Mr Valsaraj said it was decided to provide ACP to those who continued in the same post even after 12 years in service and again at 24 years.
Those completing 12 years of service in the same post would get a badge with two stripes on the uniform and those completing 24 years will get three stripes.
Policemen completing 35 years in the same post would directly ASI post,he said.
Mr Valsaraj said this was a gesture to improve the standing of the police personnel adding as many as 1,263 police personnel would benifit.
He said steps were being taken to fill up the vacancies in the Police Department. The administration had sought the concurrence of the Centre to appoint Tourist Police here.
A Bill to introduce the Goondas Act in the Union Territory would be tabled in the Winter Session of the Territorial Assembly of October 20.
He also appealed to the public not to organise agitations disrupting normal life and political parties not to put up dias blocking roads for public meetings.
