Power employees to go on stir from today

Tirupati, Oct 16 (UNI) Demanding for filling up of vacant posts in APTransco, Genco and Discom, Andhra pradesh Eleectricty Employees Union(APEEU) is planning to organise a series of protests across the state from today to October 18.

According to APEEU Divisional Secretary A Mohan Babu, the decision to organise protests was taken in the recently held divisional level meeting here and as many as 20,000 posts were lying vacant in the three power utilities since long time.

Alleging that the management was appointing staff on contract basis even for key posts causing poor functioning of the power utilities, he said the work load on the existing staff was increased due to non-filling of vacant posts.

As part of the state-wide stir, employees will stage lunch hour demonstrations in all divisions and circles while relay fasts would be organised at all circle offices and power stations from october 20 to 22, he said.

Rallies and meetings will be held on october 24 and the APEEU will observe dharnas at discom offices in all district head-quarters on october 30 and launch an indefinite fast on November 5 besides also organise '' chalo Vidyut Soudha ,he said .

The stir would be intensified by go on indenifite strike from November 13 if the government failed to solve the demands, he cautioned.
