Meera Jasmin wins first Sreevidya award

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 16(UNI) Noted South Indian film actress Meera Jasmine has been chosen for the first Sreevidya Award in the Best actress category, in Malayalam cinema.

Announcing the award, MLV-Sreevidya Charitable Society chairman K B Ganesh Kumar, MLA, today said a committee with Malayalam film director Siddiq as its chairman selected Meera for the award for her role in ''oree kadal''.

The award would be presented to the actress on October 19, which happens to be the second death anniversary of Sreevidya, he added.
