Madurai: No water from Vaigai dam
Madurai, Oct 16: Due to heavy rains in the area, Public Works Department suspended water release for irrigation from the Vaigai dam at 8 am on Wednesday, Oct 16.
The discharge that was 296 cusecs at 6 am was later reduced to 41 cusecs. The level in the Periyar dam stood at 117.20 feet (136 feet) with an inflow of 781 cusecs and a discharge of 800 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 48.26 feet (71 feet) with an inflow of 921 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 3,108 mcft.
