JK: Kaman Post Bridge has 40 MTs capacity
Sriangar, Oct 16: The Jammu and Kashmir government spokesperson today clarified that the bearing capacity of the Kaman Post Bridge on Uri-Muzaffarabad Road is 40 Metric Tonnes (MTs).
The Muzaffarabad Chamber of Commerce delegation, during its meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Governor, N N Vohra, here the other day had represented that the Kaman Post Bridge had a bearing capacity of 1.5 MTs only, which could be an obstacle for the movement of heavy vehicles, a government spokesperson said.
The governor had sought an immediate report and was informed by the Border Roads Organisation and the State Public Works Department that the bridge was trafficable for a heavy vehicle with a trailer, he said.
Its capacity is 40 MTs and not 1.5 MTs, as the PoK delegation had been informed and also reported in a section of the print media.
The road from Salamabad to the Kaman Post has already been double lanned and is currently being macadamised, the spokesperson added.
The forward area of Salamabad is these days humming with activity, as the Uri-Muzaffarabad Road is all set to witness the Cross-LoC Trade from October 21 this year.
The Trade Facilitation Centre with all logistics has come up and the work on the second phase of the infrastructural development has also been taken up simultaneously.
