Infrastructure in Industrial Area to be strengthened

Chandigarh, Oct 16 (UNI) Expressing concern over the delay in the execution of development plan for Industrial Area, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Union Territory Administrator, General (Retd.) S F Rodrigues today set out a road-map for strengthening and modernizing the infrastructure in this growth-oriented area.

A high powered committee was constituted under the Chairmanship of Union Territory Home Secretary for the purpose.

It may be recalled that this work was assigned earlier to the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, but the project remained a non-starter despite the availability of sufficient funds and resources.

General Rodrigues, while presiding over a meeting of senior officers, asked them to revamp the systems in their respective departments and start work on the project within time-bound schedule.
