India, Pakistan agree on joint patrolling at border
Lahore, Oct.16 : Pakistan and India on Thursday agreed to carry out joint patrolling at border to curb smuggling.
This was announced at a joint press briefing of the Rangers and the BSF in Lahore.
According to The News, the Rangers and the BSF also exchanged lists of prisoners from both sides and decided to release the inhabitants of Pakistan and India within 24 hours who had mistakenly crossed the border and are languishing in jails.
During the three-day meeting, it was also decided that a warning would be given to fishermen, who violated the maritime exclusive zone, before any arrest.
They also agreed that until a final decision is taken, India would stop the construction work at the border.
It was also agreed that the two forces would carry out patrolling of the borders during they day and night and avoid firing at innocent civilians.
Pakistan has released 135 Indian citizens while India has released 52 Pakistanis during the last six months, it was also revealed.
